NHA Report April 21, 2009
-The Detroit Red Wings continued their domination over The Columbus Blue Jackets winning game 3 four to nothing and taking a commanding 3-0 series lead. This was the first NHL playoff game ever played in Columbus.
-The Carolina Hurricanes got on the board in their series with The New Jersey Devils scoring the game winning goal with just .02 seconds on the clock. New Jersey has the lead in the series 2 games to 1.
-Canucks Alex Burrows scored late in the first overtime going 5-hole on goal-tender Chris Mason and Roberto Luongo made 46 saves as The Canucks get the win and sweep The St. Louis Blues 4 games to 0. This was the first sweep by the Vancouver Canucks in a seven game series in franchise history.
-In the battle of Pennsylvania The Pittsburgh Penguins take a 3 to 1 series lead downing The Philadelphia Flyers 3 to 1. Sidney Crosby sparked his Penguins in the game with a sliding goal and Marc-Andre Fleury was stellar in goal with 45 saves.
-The San Jose Sharks beat The Anaheim Ducks 4-3 in game 3 of their series thanks to Patrick Marleau’s 3rd period winner. The Ducks still hold a 2 games to 1 edge.
