International House of Pancakes Comes to Sequim

Sequim finally gets its own IHOP, officially known as the International House of Pancakes.  It is now in the planning process and needs to be approved before construciton can begin, but if all goes well, it will be located at 1360 W. Washington Street in Sequim and open for business sometime in the fall of 2009.  The owner is Mohammed Khadar who already owns several IHOP’s north of Seattle in the Lynwood area and in Oregon.

IHOP has been in California since 1958, when Al and Jerry Lapin opened the first IHOP in Taluca Lake, California.  In 2001 the 1,000th IHOP opened in Layton, Utah.  Most Sequim residents probably don’t know that IHOP purchased the Applebee’s Restaurant chain in 2007.  Of course Applebee’s is one of Sequim’s great restaurants.

A hearty welcome to Mr. Khadar and his IHOP family.
